ready for christmas
I am now finished with the boys Christmas shopping. I'm going to make them each a sleeping bag. I got their stocking stuff from the Target 75% off toy sale. And I just booked us for the Polar Express Train ride and a night in Portland.
Now I'm off to start thinking about everybody else!

thrify thursday
Okay, I'm just gonna be honest here and say that I am completely unmotivated to blog today. I've been trying to think about what to blog about all day, and I haven't come up with anything.
So. I will just tell you that Cheerios are on sale at Safeway for $3 a box, then if you buy 5 you get $5 off your total making it $2 a box, and there are coupons out there on the internet to be found. So they are a "okay" (it's all relative right?) deal. I found a good sale a few months ago from Safeway that made them around .70 cents a box and stocked up then (probably 20 boxes) and we only have 2 left so we were needing more. The store brand is on sale for $2 a box then the same buy 5 get $5 off applies so they end up being $1 each. We like the real thing though. I had 3 coupons (probably could have found more, but I was lazy. I might still search and try to stock up on more) so I got 5 boxes for $7.00. So $1.40 a box.

2 years old
Judah turned 2 on Saturday. (I totally can't believe it!) On Sunday we went on a train ride in Chehalis. The engine is the same engine that Judah's great-great grandpa used to drive.

thrifty thursday
coupons, coupons, coupons....
I mostly get my coupons from the Sunday paper. My grandparents get the Olympian and pass it onto me, so I get the coupons from their paper. I also buy the Seattle newspaper because it has better coupons in it. (coupons vary by area) I buy the Sunday paper before church and flip through the coupons to see if there is anything really good. I also look at the ads online in the morning to find out what is on sale. I am mostly taking about toiletry type stuff that I find for free at Walgreens or Rite Aid. If there is are really good coupons in the paper I will stop after church (or have Justin stop) and buy a few more copies.
Now I know some of you will be stuck on this because you are having to pay for the newspapers. There has to be more than 1 really good coupon for me to buy a bunch of papers. Here is an example of a good week:
6 newspapers x $1.50 = $9.00 (yes that week I bought 6. don't judge me yet)
coupons - remember I had 6 of each
~$2.25 off electrasol. Combined with sales I got 6 dishwasher detergents for free
~buy one get one free shampoo/conditioner.(loreal brand I think) they were on sale at both rite aid and walgreens buy one get one free. so a bogo(buy one get one) coupon combined with the sale equaled 12 FREE shampoos/conditioners.
~$1.00 off powerade. we don't usually buy this, but it was on sale for .88 cents. So I got .12 cents overage on each one. It went towards the total of the other stuff I got, I didn't get money back. (that is confusing, I will get into it in another post) So 6 Free powearades.
~$1.00 off V8 Fusion. This is the only juice I let Judah drink. No high fructose corn syrup, no added dyes, and it actually has real fruit and vegetables in it. I usually pay around $3.00 for it at Walmart. So this didn't end up free but it is something we buy anyways and money off is always good.
~plus other coupons that I've used, but the ones I listed are the best deals.
So yes I paid $9.00 for the newspapers, but I saved a lot more than $9.00 on the other things. It paid for itself with the detergent, which is something we would buy anyways.
I also print coupons off from theses sites: (we don't have a printer so I either go to my grandparents, or have Justin print them at work. It's kinda a pain)
A Full Cup : this is a Target coupon generator. It's the coupons on the Target site, but you can print of as many as you want and it prints nicely with a bunch on a page as opposed to one on a page if you use the Target site.

he's holding still!
This is a rare occasion. After a long day of playing with no nap, he fell asleep in mom and dad's bed. I do love that he will only sleep in his bed, but I sometimes miss times like this. He is so sweet when he sleeps. :)

camping day
Justin is on vacation this week and since going away costs money we are having a "at home" vacation. We wanted to go camping for a few days but we weren't sure how the boys would do, so we decided to have a trial run day of camping. So we headed out to Justin's new found super secret spot to spend the day. No nap for Judah and short naps for Cohen (in our arms), and super cranky boys by the time we left at 3:00...I'm thankful we didn't try to spend the night. Maybe next year. We did have a fun day though.

M&M's
Cohen is getting sneaky. The other day Judah had some M&M's on the table in the t.v. room. I was out of the room for a few minutes and when I came back I found this drooly chocolate faced boy surrounded by M&M's. Not sure if he stole them from Judah, if Judah gave them to him (not likely), or if they just happened to fall down by him. Either way he was pretty happy about getting a taste of them!
