crazy talk

Had to share this one. :)

Cohen refused to sleep in the bassinet, so he has been sleeping with me. This put Justin on the couch. Tonight we decided it was time for Justin to come back to bed and for Cohen to sleep in his bassinet. After both of us trying to get him to sleep on his own, Justin gave up and went to the couch again. I decided to give it one last try. I had noticed that when Cohen was sleeping in bed with me he was more on his side than his back, so decided to see if he would sleep on his side in the bassinet. Sure enough, right to sleep he went and has been sleeping ever since. (Does anyone have any good info on the safety of side sleeping? I found a lot of articles online that said back or side sleeping is best. But I also found one that said side sleeping isn't recommended anymore because they could roll onto their tummies. Opinions anyone???)
So I went to tell Justin he could come to bed. And we had this conversation:

Me: You can come to bed now, Cohen is sleeping in his bassinet.
Justin: What?
Me: I repeat what I said before.
Justin: Where is he?
Me: In his bassinet.
Justin: I know, but where is he?
Me: I just told you, in his bassinet.
Justin: (in a stern voice) Kristi. I understand that. But where is he? You aren't listening to my question.
Me: Ummm...okay. He's in the bassinet, next to the bed.
Justin: But where is he?
Me: You're not making any sense, I'm going back to bed. Are you just going to stay here?
Justin: I guess so.

I know in the morning it will be my fault because I didn't wake him up. :) It really makes me smile when we have conversations like that.

At least I get the whole bed to myself tonight!

Nolan has slept on his side form day one. We use to roll a towel or reciving blanket and put it next to him. Also I doubt at that age he can roll himself over to his tummy.
Also we use to put Nolan on his tummy he liked it.
Do what works for you not whats "right"

I agree with Sara. Whatever works and makes baby and family happy is what you should do. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the side sleeping. If you feel better about it, they make positioners you can buy, but it does the same thing a rolled receiving blanket does.

Happy sleeping! :)

I was going to say the same thing as Shalisa...they have these little support things you can buy, if you need, that will hold him up so he doesn't fall onto his tummy. Frankly, Jenny's kids would NEVER sleep on their backs or their sides. In fact, they just wouldn't sleep at night, period, unless they were being held, upright. I think maybe gas and being colicky had something to do with that. We spent many nights with Josiah sleeping with him on our chest in the recliner. I say get the sleep you can get...if he needs to lay on his side, go for it.

Both of my boys would only sleep on thier tummies. So, I let them.
It didn't (and doesn't) worry me.
You take good care of your babies.

ditto what everyone said...two tummy sleepers for me!! I co-slept with them on their sides until they were able to lift their heads up well(out of paranoia)..so about 6 weeks...then they slept on their tummies in their cribs...Not so fun for daddy but it sure was great for nursing...

I don't have anything else to add so here's a verse i'll pray for you.
Romans 15:13....May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope (and sleep) by the power of the Holy Spirit.

You and Justin are great parents!
