brownback, hunter, huckabee

I found a quiz that you answer 11 questions and it tells you the presidential candidates that you "agree" with the most.

Take it here.

My top 3
Sam Brownback
Duncan Hunter
Mike Huckabee

I've only heard of Huckabee.
If I had to guess I would have thought I agreed more with someone like Barack Obama...I guess not.

I had a hard time with some of the questions. Some things like same sex marriage are things that I am against, but I am not sure that it is the place of our government to put laws on those things. It is (mostly) a christian value and I don't think it is fair of us to hold non-christians to the standards that we set for ourselves.

...I don't know. I found the quiz and results semi-interesting. I'm trying to stay informed about the candidates. I haven't done a very good job so far. I think my vote is probably going to be based on who I don't want in office. I don't have very much respect for politicians these days.

from the things you said about same sex marriage, i think you would have been very interested in the "debate" we had in english the other day. those christian value ideas came up a lot, but we never really came to a conclusion whether that was right or not. it was very interesting.

this was a really interesting poll. i did it and came up with Duncan Hunter as my #1 and sam brownback as my #2, both of whom, i'd never heard of. i disagreed with their immigration views, though, so right now, it looks like my front runner is Mike Huckabee, who was #3. Frankly, i never really paid much attention to him. Guess I'll have to fix that.

Lets see:
#1 Ron Paul with a score of 43
#2 McCain with a score of 39 (I was surprised he was this close)
#3 Brownback with a 28 and Huckabee with a 27

As you can see, my support of Ron Paul does have some credence to the fact that he is clearly the candidate who falls most in line with my view on issues.

1: Huckabee 36
2: Thompson 35
3: Hunter 35
4: Paul 33

8 clicks down, and i find hilrod as my first democrat with a score of 24

My disclaimer: i an pretty ignorant on many issues and did't give strengths to my opinions on many, but on moral issues i have very strong opinions which is why i think my scores were tilted very republican. I tend to agree (generally) with republican stances on moral issues and democrats on most everything else.

after getting schooled by pres-play-by-play announcer ryan on some of the issues that i felt i was informed enough to answer in the quiz, my results definitely changed.

here's my greatest realization/lesson learned:

many of these questions asked specifically about "federal funding for... issue XYZ". issue XYZ being the popular issues like stem cell research and alt fuels. i'm all for research and development for these issues, but, like ryan, i don't think my taxes should be paying for it via fed funding.

there is so much money in these bio-chem / energy industries that they don't need my dollar from my taxes via fed funding to make advances. that's not what my tax dollars should go towards.

i'm learning that some terms/language for my political ideas are small government and constitutional.

i'm still not too educated on it, but i think i'm learning quite a bit. and i like that.

also: i admit i have lost faith in the system, but i really want to see it work. but i have my doubts...
