I've been thinking about this a lot lately.
You know the boys that we all had the "secret" crushes on in high school? The good looking, popular, sporty, guys that almost always had a popular girl friend. You know the type I'm talking about. As girls we dream about a guy like that being interested in us.
Now that I am married and looking back I have to laugh at those days. Those guys would make HORRIBLE husbands and fathers. The things that we think are so important in high school are totally not important out in the real world. Can you imagine if you had ended up with one of those guys? They would probably want to go party with their guy friends every weekend, and they are used to jumping from girl to girl, so could you really trust them? How would they be as fathers? It seems like guys like that never grow up. They are the ones at our high school reunions that will be single party guys working a minimum wage job.
And the girls...oh, the girls that everyone wanted to date in high school...what a joke! Can you imagine growing old with one of them? Or having them parent your child?
It is all just so absurd to me. I honestly have to laugh out loud about it. The things that we thought were so important in the opposite sex are so not important in a marriage.
So to the girls that are still in high school: Please do not fall into this trap!!! The boys that are popular in school typically do not make good husband candidates.
I know this is all very stereotypical and there are always exceptions. But this is just my opinion. Maybe you are happily married to the star of the football team...I wish you the best of luck.

I am definately married to the star of the football team...wait, i don't think i even know who that is...
Nevermind :)
i think this is funny because it is totally true.
i was such a loser in high school.
not that i'm that much better now...
but i also think it's true in the sense of people out of high school.
girls, you're going to want to look for someone who respects you, respects your family, respects your relationship with GOD, respects your convictions...
not someone who will smooth talk [read: MANIPULATE] you with their flattery or the divisiveness.
of course it won't look that way to you. because you're being charmed with the spell. so you'll have to listen to those around you. as titus 2 puts it: the older women in your life. in your church. [read: support against an emerging service]
this girl, kristi, is smart. listen to her. except when she disagrees with her even smarter husband.
HA!
